Ok. Anyway, the msvcrt.dll export in DX10 NE dxgi.dll can be fixed with mscrx.dll from X3daudio driver and fcwin2k after renaming to msvcrt.dw7. The Kernel export can be wrapped with the Wrapper Kernel. Dunno about the other DX10 NE files that get installed on the system. You should be able to find entry in the library name with a hex editor. Dunno why you don't.

I found, but an "if" selection is written to the program which we cannot see with hex editor as string.

There are some bits which point to dxgi.dll and we cannot modifly it.

But it is not the main problem, this dll defaulty cannot detect the org dxgi.dll.

My trick is almost identical your trick.

Yes, you are right. This Hex Editing of dxgi.dll doesn't work here :o

I don't know which other files Directx10 NE for Windows XP installs but when you open D3D10CORE.DLL and D3D10.DLL with Dependency Walker, are there any missing exports or errors? These DirectX 10 NE libraries don't work in System32 when they have important missing exports.

The missing export is msvcrt.dll only which I copyed KDW version to the game directory.
If there was any missing export, I would get an error message.

It seems, we run out of ideas, this game has a high protection :(

Thank you for helping and wasting your time for me.
The last hope is, that OldCigarette will appear. If you will have any new ideas, report it., or If I should find a solve, I will post it.

Summary I write all of our trying:

- removing OS checker from .exe (I don't be able to programming in assembly)
- change whoole OS version (VeriflyVersionEx cannot changing)
- installing games explorer (gameux.dll have too many missing exports)
- setting compatiblility mode (MACT and OCW cause conflict)
- gameux.dll from wine package (this dll is built for ubuntu, and windows cannot use it)
- wrapper dxgi.dll (dxgi.dll appears to be missing)

I have Windows 7 in a virtual machine with "MS Virtual PC 2004 SP1" and the installation inside the virtual machine barely passes over 6.3GB and the vhd file that holds the virtual machine image 5.2GB. I think that the difference happens because of the loads of junctions Windows 7 has, or something else, that shows a not very realistic size, because vhd files aren't compressed.

Anyway, I don't recommend you to run a game through a virtual machine, if it hasn't the latest performance updates, and the latest VirtualBox for Windows 2000 is quiiiiiite old.

Yes, you are right, but I would never use internet in virtualbox.

Virtual PC 2007 might work on 2k.

But I try this in extremis.

The latest supported is 2004 SP1.

In the past I tried to install 2007 with an error of not supported and, now, before trying a wrapper (or even kernelEx), I think, and you should think, that virtualization needs its drivers for hardware emulation working fine, if not, BSOD guaranteed.

I'm not telling you to avoid it or don't try, but I'm just saying what happens. Indeed, these kind of things happened a lot with VirtualBox in Windows 2000, before they dropped support, because of bad driver implementation/calls/etc. At least it's my experience with it (could be my hardware too). Just, try it with caution :)

You should install virtual machine additions to get hardware virtualization, but 2004 sp1 don't support windows 7.

I hope, we will find a way to play renegade ops in real windows.

Does, it really does support Windows 7. What Windows 7 needs is the features from VM additions from MS Virtual PC 2005 that can be used without problem with 2004 (just mount it on 2004). Once used and installed on 7, Windows 7 runs smoothly in MS Virtual PC 2004 SP1 but as I said I don't recommend to play through a virtual machine.

But, yes, you are right, I hope you can find a way to play it :-)

I end the useless discussion I started. Sorry for this waste of time.
