Having trouble with software, post here

Quicktime 7.74

PostPosted by JH2k » Sat Nov 16, 2013 12:04 am

Hi there.

I was trying to install this just for the plugin but, even if I was able to install (with some HSRESULT error in I can't remember which file), the player, and therefore, the plugins, doesn't work. (I just edited with fcwin2k.exe the 3 msi's inside the installer and run quictime.msi to accomplish the installation)

No errors, just doesn't open the player or work the plugin even with wrappers.

I did all this on a virtual machine and I didn't make dwi or save any log or whatever because I hadn't in mind come here to ask, as the community looks a bit quiet (looks all the glory is at msfn now).

But I come to ask now if anyone got it working with wrappers, because, I guess, most of you moved to KernelEx (what I didn't¹) and probably you have already working.

I'm just searching for "yes, it is possible", "no, it is not possible"

Regards for all.

¹ To be fair, I find the installation quite confusing on what must be installed (it has quite a few prerequisites).

Hi JH2k,

welcome back to the win2kgaming forum :D. I'm running VLC player v2.0.8 and it works well with the Wrapper. Haven't installed Quicktime and Realplayer for a long time so i can't tell. Maybe i am going to install KernelEx on my new system but haven't made up my mind yet.

I haven't been much away from here lurking :-)

Ok, thanks for the reply :-) I just was trying without complete success.

In my case, instead of KernelEx, I'm considering to just jump to 7. As I did with NT 4.0 when I jumped to 2000. It's starting to be much work for the benefits as it was back in 2004 with NT 4.0.

Did you use Quick Time Installer ?

http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/ar ... 27962.html

setupqt.cmd is QuickTime Installer.
exkernel\setupqt.cmd is one for Extended Kernel.

I guess that the following version MSI is useful.

I didn't use that, as well as I'm not going to install the KernelEx. Instead this, I prefer to jump to 7 if I can't use wrappers.

I said that.

.\setupqt.cmd is QuickTime Installer for Wrapper.
exkernel\setupqt.cmd is one for Extended Kernel.

Ok, sorry for this misunderstanding.

Also, as I recommended in the past, you should translate your posts to english. Even with translators make a labyrinth to understand what to download and what to do.

Don't take as an offense. It's just one opinion.

Anyways, my fever to try to install it was 2 and a half months ago. Now, I just don't care if it works or not.

I have less and less time to spent on the PC, and making magic and tricks to run applications is not one of my "wishes" when I sit in front of it.

Thanks anyway.

You can only save yourself this trouble by using the latest operating system and new hardware.
