Okay, anyone likes to test the following fix?!Does someone retrieve a complete server list, finaly??

Missing Exports:
Kernel32.dll - SetHandleContext
WS2_32.dll - freeaddrinfo,getaddrinfo
t2embed.dll
Awesomium.dll

Fix:
1) download and install the game.
2) patch to latest version (which was v2.1.3 when i posted this fix)
3) for Kernel32.dll and WS2_32.dll you will need the KDW wrapper:
click here for the KDW homepage
and add it together with the renamed Win2k system Kernel2k.dll,WS2_2k.dll to the binaries directory.
4) download Awesomium.dll from
runesofmagic forum: Awesomium.dll FIX--->or mirror: Megaupload: Awesomium.dll FIX
and copy to the binaries directory.
5) download t2embed.dll from
t2embed.dll v5.1.2600.2777
and copy to the binaries directory.

Report any problems in the Troubleshooting section.Thankyou.

Hi,welcome to the Win2kgaming forum.

Can you please run the game in Dependency Walker profile module and let it crash at the server connect screen and upload the DWI as described in the guide in Part2: Profiling?

Dependency Walker profile module log

Thanks

Okay, thanks.Currently looking into the issue. What DX9 version have you got installed?

Would it be possible to upload the former Runes of Magic Patch and latest Patch 2.1.3?

I couldn't find any suspicious issues in the log but i think i have a clue whats going on.You can try the following steps separately and see what fixes the problem:

1) download Security Update for Windows XP (KB961371):
contains t2embed v5.1.2600.3607
a) extract the WindowsXP-KB961371-v2-x86-ENU.exe with 7zip or WinRAR or other packer.Copy t2embed.dll to the binaries directory and replace the old version mentioned in the fix.
b) install the Win2k Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB961371)

Security fix information:
Info bulletin
MS09-029: Vulnerabilities in the Embedded OpenType Font Engine could allow remote code execution View products that this article applies

2) make backup of the t2embed.dll v5.1.2600.3607.Now unpack fcwin from the
KDW Wrapper pack (click for homepage)
and start it.
a) open t2embed.dll where it says "File___________Refer".Select msvcrt.dll in the lower right "EXE Settings Force Link" corner.Press Rewrite. see: fcwin Usage 5
b) copy msvcrt.dw7 from the KDW Wrapper pack to the directory of the just patched t2embed.dll.

3) as Awesomium.dll hookes Shlwapi.dll you could try a newer XP version.Do the following:
a) download: shlwapi.dll v6.00.2900.2180 and copy it to the binaries directory.
b) now, we need to enter this library to the "ExcludefromKnowDLL" session list in the registry as described in the
Win2kgaming: Advanced Fix Guide

Tried all the steps, no luck.:(
shlwapi.dll replacement crashed the client update. Renamed the file to get past the crash then named it back, still crashed after name/password.
A crash report directory has been created since I started messing round trying to make this compatable. (wasn't there with initial game crashes)
Report contains a dmp and xml file (was greek to me)
DX ver = 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
The runes of magic patches don't seem to be on my puter anywhere but will hunt around and try to find on the web if you like.

My son come around and had a long play session with my wife useing his laptop, took pity on my wife and left laptop as is faster than her puter. If you have come to an impass on a fix for this I could steal son's laptop from wife to play the game.... :) Would prefer getting it running on my puter though.... even if is laptop is faster /sigh.

Sorry to hear that none of the solutions worked. It would be good if you could check for those last two released game patches.Maybe we can find which library got involved in this crash behaviour.Maybe your son stored those patches somewhere on his laptop?

Don't you ever sleep?:)... Thanks for quick replys again.
The client auto updates then dels the patches I guess, but have seen ppl posting links to manual update when scanning the tech support forum.
Don't really understand how the patch will help you but will go find it. AAAH I see.. (lacking sleep here)... Game has been broken for win2k since I installed it. Wife only downloaded the very end of last month then passed flash rom to son and I to install from. Game caught my iterest as it seems to have a genuine death penalty, beeing able to buy gear etc with real money probably bad though.. wanted to play for a bit and check it out.
The rom (at son's place atm) probably has original install + string of patches will find out when he (and I) are awake what patches are on it.

Hey,its kinda interesting that there's no Awesomium.dll needed anymore after patching to version v2.1.5.2028 (patch_2.1.5.2010.en_2.1.5.2028.en.exe)Can you confirm that its not requested anymore?

I may would need the following libraries from your installation:
CRASHRPT.DLL
LIBCURL.DLL
XERCES-C_2_8.DLL
MSS32.DLL

Just drop them on sendspace, that would be very helpful.

For the winner - you don't need any Wrapper and fixes anymore for Client v2.1.5.2028!Only problem left to go is the strange crash which we have to investigate...

Kinda good news, ey?

Okay, its kinda boring to repeat steps, i know but i need you to do the following steps:
1) patch and check that you are running the latest build v2.1.5.2028 (right click client.exe ->Info)
2) remove ALL added fix files (awsome.dll, kernel and wrapper files,t2embed.dll etc.)
3) start Dependency Walker and run another profile session until the game crashs.

Thanks for the teamwork.
