Lego Indiana Jones 2

Having trouble playing a game, post here

Lego Indiana Jones 2

PostPosted by Falcon » Tue Apr 06, 2010 1:43 pm

I've fixed some games before but I don't have any idea of what to do here:
When I try to install Lego Indiana Jones 2 it says:"Failed to find DLL function: KERNEL32.GetUserGeoID Setup will now terminate."
The Win2k Wrapper Pack worked for other games because the problem only occured after installation. But here it's even before I installed the game. Does anyone have ideas on how to fix this :?:

Okay,so i got this problem in the past sometimes after the completed installation which doesn't have to be fixed. It seems with LEGO I.J. 2 you are left to try the following solutions:

a) copy the game disc to your HDD and copy the Wrapper kernel32.dll and renamed windows Kernel32_ORG.dll to the setup directory and try again.

b) if you can locate a MSI game archive in the Documents and Settings folder before you terminate the installation copy it to some TEMP folder:
-> remove launch condition with Orca if applicable and necessary
and run the MSI manually without the setup.exe.

*g*

Okay,so i need to take a look and need some information.

a) i need to view the Dependency Walker Setup.exe log (including combined steps 1+2):
Dependency Walker log tool
-> run the setup.exe of your harddrive with the kernel fix installed .Did you run the Excludefromknowndll.reg and restarted the system?

Questions:
- does the game install any temporary files in the Documents and Settings\...\...\TEMP folder at all?
- is the game archive a MSI or CAB file?
- do you have a "WINNT.0" or similar folder on your HDD where your windows is installed besides the usual WINNT location?

I think it doesn't work because i didn't do B)
Why?: Because I couldn't locate a MSI game archive in the Documents and Settings folder
and I don't know how to remove launch condition with Orca. WHAT IS ORCA?

If you run a setup the game/application archive gets often temporary installed at the following location:
Code: Select all
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator OR USER name\Local Settings\Temp\...

There are two main packed archive types the MSI and CAB which store the registry entries and files. The MSI can contain some launch condition entry in the database which prevents the installation on excluded windows systems (as set by the author). To edit or remove the launch condition of MSI archives you can use SuperOrca or the more simple Orca database editor.

Orca
SuperOrca

But all this doesn't need to bother you now.So there are no temporary archives copied to that Documents and Settings directory during the setup?!

I need to take a look at the DWI Dependency Walker log i mentioned one post earlier. Please copy the complete game disc to your HDD and copy the Kernel fix to it and open and run the Setup.exe in Dependency Walker as described in the guide i linked to.

1. copy the game disc to your HDD (harddrive)
2. copy the Wrapper Kernel to the setup directory
3. copy the renamed Windows Kernel aka Kernel32_ORG.dll to the setup directory
4. open LEGO I.J.2 setup.exe from the HDD in Dependency Walker (File->Open)
5. go to Profile ->Start Profiling (or press F7)
6. select those marked settings
7. press OK
8. when it terminates just press OK and save the DWI like you did last time and upload it

w00t that was a easy one.Your Kernel is missing the HeapSetInformation hotfixes!
Kernel32.dll - HeapQueryInformation,HeapSetInformation

Install both hotfixes mentioned here or install the update rollup 1.The choice is pretty much up to you ;).
download: HeapQueryInformation,HeapSetInformation hotfix

Repeat game installation from your harddrive.
