Europa Universalis III on Steam

PostPosted by Zephy » Fri Jan 28, 2011 9:44 am

So yeah i had seen the "No longer supported" pop up, but as the game itself was supposed to be compatible with 2k i paid it no mind, especially since it gave me something to play with my brother at a very low price (6$ for a game and 3 expansions? yeah worth the risk).

But trying to start the game itself once downloaded/installed result in "Game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." error, directly attempting to start the game .exe get me ".exe is not a valid win32 application", attempted to make sense of all the fix guides and everything i could find that seemed remotely related to no avail.

Anyone can make me a for dummy guides? :D Or maybe someone ran into a similar issue and can point me to the solution i obviously missed then?

I get "Can't find DecodePointer in Kernel32.dll" now.

Adding the KDW kernel (with the 2k's) give a Steam Error "Application Load error 3:0000065432", loading through Steam get "Europa Universalis III failed to start (Error code 51).".

Searching Steam support database for what "error code 51" mean get a lots of unrelated hits and a few things about the original issue:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=4595-WEXN-6831
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6218-USFX-5568
Following these instructions didn't fix the problem either.

Google get me this when searching for "Application Load error 3:0000065432" (and a lots more):
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1242592
From what i get the problem arise on XP and Vista too and steam is not hurrying to fix it if the methods they give don't help, the few "solved" seems to involve cracks or mods...

Probably beyond the purpose of this community if it's a Steam's issue and not a 2k one, but i will appreciate any help i can get on fixing this nonetheless. :(

Hi,

please open the game exe in dependency walker and profile the game as described in the profiling dependency tutorial (see my signature).Follow parts.1 and 2.Maybe i also need to take a look at some more libraries. We'll see.

Senspace doesn't seem to work for me today, so using Dropbox instead.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14747098/eu3game.dwi <--- Part 1's file of the game exe itself.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14747098/eu3gameprofiled.dwi <- Part 2's.

And just in case it might help, i did the same for the launcher (which load 'till i tell it to actually launch the game) :
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14747098/EU3Launcher.dwi Part 1
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14747098/EU3GAMELauncherProfiled.dwi Part 2

Thanks for the help.
