Single Core CPU

As we all know newer games usually only support the Core 2 Duo or higher. Do you think that there is a way of playing games like Colin Mcrae DiRT on a Single Core like the Athlon XP?

Hi,

its not a question of wheither the game is suppose to work on Single Core or Dual Core in general.The problem raises from the used SSE2 chipset extensions.Whenever a SSE2 instruction gets run on a Single Core CPU (non-SSE2) the game crashes.In some cases (game: Borderline) it is possible to replace the SSE2 compiled library with a non-SSE2 compiled library.Here are some more topics related this issue:

OK, thanks for the Info. Sadly DiRT seems to be one of the games that can not be fixed. :(
